What Are Price Boosts?

A price boost is a bookmaker promotion where the odds on a specific outcome are temporarily increased, “Liverpool to win, was 2.5, now 3.0”. Bookmakers run them daily to pull customers in.

The matched betting angle is simple: when the boost pushes the bookie’s price above the exchange’s lay price, backing the boost and laying it on the exchange locks in profit whatever the result. The bookmaker is, briefly, paying more for an outcome than the market says it’s worth, and the gap is yours.

How do we profit from them?

  1. Spot a boost where the boosted back odds beat the exchange lay odds
  2. Back the boosted price at the bookmaker
  3. Lay the same outcome at the exchange

Because the back odds exceed the lay odds, this is underlay territory, the profit concentrates on the boost winning, with roughly £0 if it doesn’t. The quick check: (back odds − lay odds) × stake is your profit if the boost lands. A 3.0-vs-2.6 boost with £10 on it is worth about £4; bigger boosts, bigger locks.

The bigger the gap, the bigger the profit. A 5% boost is usually not worth the click; a 25% boost on the right market is real money. Run the numbers in the calculator before placing, some “boosts” don’t even clear the exchange price.

Why price boosts matter long term

Here’s the thing every beginner eventually faces: sign-up offers run out. There’s a finite list of bookmakers, and once you’ve worked through it, as our longer-standing premium members all have, the welcome-bonus stage of matched betting is over.

Price boosts (together with reload offers) are what comes next. They regenerate daily: every bookmaker pushes boosted odds on the day’s fixtures, every day of the season. Individually smaller than a sign-up bonus, but they never stop coming, this is the engine of consistent monthly profit and the way an established bankroll keeps growing months and years in.

The skill shifts from following a checklist to spotting value quickly, which is a volume game: the more boosts you see, the more profitable ones you catch.

Where to find price boosts

  • Bookmaker apps and sites - usually a “Boosts” or “Enhanced odds” tab, refreshed daily around the day’s fixtures
  • The comparison problem - a boost is only good relative to the exchange price, so every boost means checking two sites… unless something checks it for you
  • Our Discord does the checking - the MBE Bot and the community’s boost channels flag the boosts that actually clear the exchange price, with the odds gap and a pre-filled calculator link, all day long. Members’ daily routine is reading alerts, not scanning ten bookmaker apps

Boosts on bet builders deserve their own playbook, see the Bet365, Bally Casino and Betfred selection guides.
